A Jazz in the Park Tribute to America's Parks

07/23/25

Join the La Crosse Jazz Orchestra in Riverside Park on Sunday, July 27 as they pay musical tribute to America’s great parks.

"Theme parks, national parks, sport parks – we pay tribute to them all!" says LJO director Greg Balfany.

The program opens with the Tonight Show Band’s version of "Skyliner," posing the question “Which park does this represent?”

Vocalist Andy Temte will pay tribute to some of the memorable artists that have performed in our great park venues, Balfany says. "Whether it’s Michael Bublé in a Florida theme park, Paul Anka in Central Park or Harry Connick Jr. in Louis Armstrong Park in New Orleans, he’s got them covered," he says.

In addition, trumpeter Jon Ailabouni will take you down the Grand Canyon “On The Trail." If you are “Frozen,” Jon Schipper’s scintillating high notes will restore all sensation, Balfany adds.

"The band will visit yet more parks including Mount Rushmore and the Statue of Liberty to name but two.  And bring your glove as we visit your favorite ball park! Catch a homer, as the band does not hit foul balls."

The concert is free and starts at 7 p.m. in Riverside Park, 100 State St., La Crosse. Rain site is the Cappella Performing Arts Center, 721 King St., La Crosse.
