    Celebrating 100 Years of Women Jazz Composers.
    This concert will feature renowned Guest Artist: Chicago Vocalist Typhanie Monique.

    Soul-infused jazz vocal stylist Typhanie Monique’s daring rhythmic ideas and unique improvisatory delivery place her in an elite class of vocalists.

    She has been a force on the Chicago music scene for more than 20 years. A fierce bandleader, she has shared the stage with jazz’s elite, including Joe Lovano, Chris Potter, the Manhattan Transfer and Mavis Staples, to name a few.

    Typhanie is a performer, educator and recording artist whose four critically acclaimed, independently produced albums have captured the ears of top jazz critics and thousands of dedicated fans.
    Downbeat magazine publisher Frank Alkyers calls her latest album Call it Magic “a deep recording about the full range of emotions surrounding this thing called love … it’s music made with great thought and even more care and, yes, a little magic.”

    This is the third concert of the LJO's 47th Season of Jazz In The Park.

    Highlights include a tenor sax battle with Mark Heinz and Jeff Erickson on Count Basie’s original “Swing Shift.” Band vocalist Tim Henke’s selections include Paul Anka’s version of “Hello” and Michael Buble’s great version of “Save the Last Dance for Me.”

    A special concert feature will be the world premiere of LJO trumpeter Scott Jensen’s tribute composition “Hold Tight.”

    The LJO is pleased to bring back to La Crosse, the spirited and vivacious recording artist, Janet Planet. Her concert schedule takes her to performance halls, jazz festivals and clubs across the USA and internationally. Janet will be performing selections from her recording “Janet Planet – Just Like A Woman – The Music Of Bob Dylan vol. 2” and premiering 2 new selections from her soon to be released album "Under The Venus Moon".
