Experience the Power of Jazz

This summer, the La Crosse Jazz Orchestra invites you to be part of something truly special. The LJO's 51st Jazz in the Park concert series features tributes to jazz legends Sammy Nestico and Quincy Jones, plus a stirring homage to America’s parks.

"This year’s lineup includes bold new compositions and time-honored classics showcasing the finest jazz arrangers past and present," says LJO director Greg Balfany. "Our talented musicians are ready to take you on an inspiring musical journey. We’re especially excited to welcome Tom Wopat as our featured guest artist, bringing his signature energy and artistry to the stage."

The 2005 Jazz in the Park schedule:

  • Sunday, July 13: Sammy’s Groove
  • Sunday, July 20: Our Man Quincy
  • Sunday, July 27: Music From America’s Parks
  • Sunday, Aug. 3: A Good Ole’ Boy Swings with special guest Tom Wopat

All concerts are free and start at 7 p.m. in Riverside Park, 100 State St., La Crosse. Rain site is the Cappella Performing Arts Center, 721 King St., La Crosse.

ABOUT THE BAND

The La Crosse Jazz Orchestra is the premier big band of western Wisconsin. Under the direction of Greg Balfany, the ensemble is best known for its long-running Jazz in the Park concert series. The LJO is committed to preserving and promoting the art of jazz through high-quality, free public performances. The group operates under the fiscal sponsorship of the La Crosse Community Nonprofits Association, an affiliate program of the La Crosse Area Community Foundation.
