Mark Lakmann plays trombone with th LJO

Mark Lakmann is the band director and music department chair at Logan High School in La Crosse. He began playing with the LJO in 1993 while attending the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse, where he earned a bachelor's degree in Instrumental Music Education. He went on to get a Master's in Education at Viterbo University. Mark also performs with the John Paulson Big Band, Cheers Big Band, the La Crosse Symphony Orchestra, the La Crosse Concert Band, Cathedral Brass, Undercover, and LB & the High Volts. He has also backed up and shared the stage with Marv Stamm, Clark Terry, Wycliffe Gordon, Ed Shaughnessy, the Temptations, the Four Tops, and Grammy-winning songwriter Bill Miller.

ABOUT THE BAND

The La Crosse Jazz Orchestra is Western Wisconsin's premier big band. Directed by Greg Balfany, the group is best known through its Jazz in the Park concert series. The LJO mission: to promote, preserve and forward the creation of jazz music through free live performances available to all in our region. LJO operates under fiscal sponsorship from La Crosse Community Foundation.
