Bill Buchholtz – trumpet
Bill Buchholtz served as instrumental music director at the Chetek, Wis. public schools for 28 years, and trumpet instructor at Indianhead Arts Center for 30 years. Besides the LJO, he plays trumpet with the Nuto Dixieland Swing Band, 3 Bucks and Change, and the Gerry Way Band. He has also performed with Water Street Big Band, Conrad Johns Big Band, Les and Larry Elgart, Myron Florin, Bobby Vinton, Tanya Tucker, Roy Clark, the Statler Brothers, Mel Torme, the O’Jays, Bob Hope, and many others. Bill is active as an adjudicator/clinician throughout the area. He is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire, and was selected to the College All-Star Band and cited for outstanding musicianship at the 1975 Wichita Collegiate Jazz Festival.
ABOUT THE BAND
The La Crosse Jazz Orchestra is Western Wisconsin's premier big band. Directed by Greg Balfany, the group is best known through its Jazz in the Park concert series. The LJO mission: to promote, preserve and forward the creation of jazz music through free live performances available to all in our region. LJO operates under fiscal sponsorship from La Crosse Community Foundation.
